International Rescue Committee Receives Space Donation
Manhattan Mini Storage donates space to the International Rescue Committee, making it easier to help new refugees of forced migration transition to life in the United States.
(New York, NY, December 2009) - Moving to New York City can be a difficult transition for anyone. Now imagine coming here because conflict or persecution had driven you out of your home as a victim of forced migration or because you must seek political asylum in New York City. You know no one, speak little English and bring with you only minimal possessions. Rebuilding your life would be a long and arduous journey, were it not for a group like the International Rescue Committee.
Free Furniture Storage for International Rescue Committee Donations
In this season of giving, Manhattan Mini Storage is happy to announce a further addition to their legacy of community support by providing the International Rescue Committee with free storage in the city. This will help the IRC not only save money on storage space, but allow them to expand their operations and supply them with a convenient location for furniture storage in Manhattan to hold much needed furniture donations. The IRC can then pick up donated furniture and goods and deliver them to refugees' new homes.
More about the International Rescue Committee
Formed in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein, the International Rescue Committee was created to assist Germans suffering under Hitler. The IRC provides opportunities for refugees to thrive in America. Each year, thousands of refugees are invited by the U.S. government to seek safety and freedom. Forced to flee conflict or persecution, many have survived for years against incredible odds. They step off the plane with next to nothing but their dignity, hope and determination. In New York and many other regional offices across the country, the IRC helps them rebuild their lives. Today their support spans the globe with a mandate to rescue and rebuild in crisis zones throughout the world.
