FINDING YOUR SPACE

How does the rental process work?
Don't stress, we make it easy:
1. Make a Reservation: make a reservation online or call (800) S-T-O-R-A-G-E (786-7243) to get personalized help from a Storage Advisor.
2. Schedule Your Move: we offer full-service moving, and you can set this up at the same time you make your reservation.
3. Move-In Day: complete your rental paperwork at the front desk, move your stuff into your room, and put your lock on the door.

Do I need a reservation?
It's like a hotel - you don't need a reservation, but it's better to have one. With a reservation, you'll be sure the room you need is on hold for you, and it will save you time on move-in day, too. You can reserve online up to a month in advance, or even longer by calling (800) S-T-O-R-A-G-E (786-7243) .

What size rooms do you have?
Our smallest spaces are our Personal Closets, which measure approximately 4' x 4' x 4'. These are great for storage of small items, boxes, and seasonal clothes. We have walk-in rooms (8' ceilings or higher) that range in size from 16 square feet (4' x 4') up to 100 square feet (10' x 10'). We even have extra large rooms that range up to 1500 square feet.

How much space will I need?
If you're not sure how big a room to reserve, use our online estimator to help. Or, call (800) S-T-O-R-A-G-E (786-7243) to speak directly to a Storage Advisor who will take an inventory of your items and recommend the correct size.

Do you have climate-controlled units?
We have rooms that are fully heated and air-conditioned in most of our 17 locations in Manhattan.

MOVING IN

Will you move my items or do I have to do it?
We have a great team of movers who'd be thrilled to handle all the details of your move. To book a move, just call (800) S-T-O-R-A-G-E (786-7243) and select the menu option for moving.

You can also use our free Storage Taxi to move in (if you don't have too much stuff). If you prefer, you could rent a truck on your own. Or bribe your friend who drives a minivan. It's really up to you.

Do I get a free move?
It depends on the size of your storage room and how long you plan to stay with us. We know what a pain moving can be, so we love helping our guests pay for their move whenever possible. Call (800) S-T-O-R-A-G-E (786-7243) to see if you qualify.

What is the Storage Taxi?
The Storage Taxi is an oversize minivan with no seats in the back. If you're an existing Manhattan Mini Storage guest, you can use the Storage Taxi to get a free ride for you and your belongings to or from your storage space. You can use it as much as you need to, and it's FREE! (Sounds too good to be true, we know.)

You can also use the Storage Taxi for your initial move-in, but only if your items will fit in the van in a single trip.

SECURITY & ACCESS

What are your hours?
We're open 7am-10pm, seven days a week - and we even have some 24-hour buildings.

Will my stuff be safe?
Very safe. Here's what we do to ensure the security of our buildings:
• Modern security monitoring systems
• Heavy-duty steel room construction
• Individually-alarmed units
• Electronic keycard access to buildings
• Elevator access restricted by floor
• On-site manager at every building
• Security rounds conducted multiple times daily
• Full-time maintenance staff to keep everything spic and span

Do you provide locks? Do you keep a key to my room?
You can provide your own lock, or you can purchase one from us at the facility. We do not keep a key to your room - you have the only key, and you are the only person who can access your space.

How do I access my room?
Accessing your stored goods is a cinch. Just use your electronic keycard to access the building and the elevator; no sign-in sheet or ID check required. Carts and dollies are always available to make it easy to move things in and out of your space.

What if I lose my electronic keycard or room key?
We can replace a lost electronic keycard for a $10 fee. We don't have access to your room and don't keep any copy of your key. So if you lose your key, we may have to cut your lock to grant you access to your room. You'll then have to replace the lock.

LEASE TERMS

Can I rent month-to-month?
We always rent month-to-month, so you're not locked in to anything long-term. Even better, we have a 10-day grace period so that if you vacate in the first 10 days of any month, you pay only for those days, not the whole month.

What do I need to provide in order to rent?
To rent your space, you'll need:
• Two forms of ID, one with a picture (typically a driver's license or other photo ID, and a credit card)
• Your first month's payment
• A lock to secure your room (if you don't have one, you can buy one from us at the facility)

What about insurance?
You are responsible for the items you store with us, and insurance for your stored belongings is required. You may already be covered under your existing homeowner's or renter's insurance - check with your insurance agent to be sure. Another option is to purchase our KeepSafe protection plan, which is a flexible, affordable alternative to regular insurance.

BILLING

Do you have automatic payment options?
Sure do. In fact, most of our guests prefer to use our EasyPay service because of how convenient it is - we'll automatically deduct your monthly charges from a credit card, debit card, or bank account. No bills, no checks to mail, no late fees. As an added bonus, we'll take $1/month off your rent if you sign up for automatic payment from your bank account - we save money on credit card fees this way, and we pass the savings on to you.

You can also choose to pay your bill through our website, or in-person at the facility with cash, check, or credit/debit card. (And if you're old-fashioned, you can even get a paper bill and mail the check to us.)

Can I manage my account online?
Yup - once you check in, you can pay bills, view your account history, and update any of your account information on our website.

What if I'm late in making my payment?
We bill monthly, and all payments are due on the 1st of the month. However, we provide a 10-day grace period before charging a late fee of $20 on the 11th of the month. To avoid the possibility of late fees, we recommend customers sign up for Easy Pay, so that their payments are automatically taken from a bank account or credit card each month.

OTHER QUESTIONS

How do I move out?
The move-out process is easy: just empty your room, and let us know that you're leaving. We'll close out your account that day. As a courtesy, we ask that you give notice at least 21 days before your intended vacate date.

If I don't rent storage, can I still purchase boxes and packing supplies?
Yes - anyone can buy our high-quality boxes and supplies at any of our facilities. They're also available for sale on our website. If your order is more than $50, we provide free delivery to your door (as long as your door in somewhere in Manhattan). And we will buy back unused boxes at our facilities, so don't be afraid to stock up.

Do you hold auctions?
We hold monthly auctions at each of our facilities. You can contact the storage facility in your neighborhood to find out when they will be held.
